Paco, our potent Paquete Moches, is smiling

Our PAQUETES,  those larger-than-life platters Tacontento has served to make many a Latin American foodie and Gringo tourist very contentO, are a big hit already in South Beach. Clockwise from left we have the Flautas de Papa (seasoned potato taquitos with Mexican cream and fresh Cotija cheese), Quesadillitas (Housemade corn tortillas with Queso Blanco), Guacamole (fresh California Haas Avocado sauce), House Recipe Chorizo, Pork Loin, Churrasco (Skirt Steak), Chicken Breast, and Pastor (Adobo-marinated pork with onion), followed by more Quesadillitas and Flautas and, finally, Cebollitas (Grilled Scallions). In the middle is Queso Fundido which is Spanish for "stop being confused - you know it's time for Tacontento!"  All this food going clockwise reminds me that it's time to eat at Tacontento! Gooooool! Sorry - got carried away...

Our Prayers Answered - we finally opened for business one minute ago!

Here is our General Manager Jim, praying the night Tacontento hired him, that we'd open fast. Fortunately, we can say with certainty that he has grown into the job! The dog is unattested. If anyone knows what his name was, let us know on Facebook.

Miami Herald mentions Tacontento South Beach

It's aqui. It says we hope to open to the public Friday the 18th, but, alas, it looks like Monday the 21st for Miami Beach's first official taste of TC's Caldo Tlalpeno, Sopa Azteca, Chicharron de Queso, and Tacos Campechanos - to name a few. Stay tuned.

If we could be more inviting, you'd already be here at Tacontento

Got twelve mouths to feed? A tribe of your own to please? Then our ancient Mayan harvest table is for you and your hambrientos. Just don't spill any Chipotle Mayonnaise on the ceremonial tapestries. It doesn't blend in. The Salsa Roja or Salsa Verde yes, but not the Chipotle Mayo.

Urban Daddy on Tacontento - A Pink Taco Den in South Beach

Ah, the color pink.

You can look pretty in it. You can be named it. And, most important, it's one hell of a hue to devour a taco in...

Introducing Tacontento, your new technicolor land of coal-fired tacos, soft-open now and fully open this Friday in South Beach.

First, let's address the decor. There's a lot of hot pink and turquoise for your eyes to absorb in here, so you might feel like you've stepped into a groovy burrito joint in San Francisco's Mission District. But you'd be wrong, because this spot is straight out of Latin America, the first US restaurant of a chain with similar places in Honduras, El Salvador and Brazil (nobody makes Mexican like the Brazilians).

Whether you're coming in with a date or just a hard-drinking, fuchsia-loving band of misfits, you'll want to head straight for the angel-presided bar and summon something tequila-y like a La Fuente de la Juventud (cucumber juice, cilantro, jalapeƱo and tequila).

That will set the stage for your platter of Tacos al Pastor, full of pork that's been marinated in a spice blend and slow cooked over an open coal fire for a smokier flavor.

We are a big proponent of clean coal technology.

It's sweet but not too much, it's potent but tastes like candy, it's smooth and refreshing. What is it? Almendrado, the greatest Mexican secret is about to take South Beach by storm under the auspices of the Blowing Angels [Angeles Soplones] of Bar Agave at Tacontento. If you mention this blogpost and we're open, your first taste of Almendrado is on us. Saluuuuud!

Pork Loin Burritos are on the grill

We debuted our Pork Loin tacos to some friends in preparation for the opening this week. As they say in Spanish, Mmmm rico. Instead of one we give you two stuffed with grilled meats, beans, and guacamole.

Angel Chupon

Our camera system found out who was drinking all the beer, Yes, it was...Cacheton.
Now the angeles soplones are flying high above the coolest Margaritas like the Acai Ta'Comoquiere and the uber-healthy Fuente d'la Joventud - a restorative combination of cilantro, cucumber, agave nectar, fresh squeezed limes and lots of 100% Blue Agave tequila. Very cool.
